To art or not to art - that continues to be the question. Art has always been something for me to admire - never something I could do. During my 68th trip around the sun, we were faced with the pandemic shut down. Given the choice of either doing something productive with my time or burying my husband in the backyard, I chose to paint.
I work with acrylics - usually I end up with more paint on me (and the wall, table, carpet) so I can at least scrub it off
. I experiment with mixed media (with limited success) but haven't grown up enough for oils. I am just going with the flow - working on canvas and paper, different sizes and styles.
I am inspired by many things - wildflowers along Hwy 64, the wonderous soft colors of Monet's Water Lilies; the weather beaten shades of an old barn; the warm vibrant colors of a Turkish rug; the evocative words to a song; the frustration of a painting gone wrong - basically everything I see, hear, and do inspire me.
